Mommy's side of the story

Yeah, Chris has figured out how I can post on the blog from my e-mail account so that I can share my thoughts.

So, as you can see, Chris and I are having an amazing time preparing for this baby. I realize that September 26 (or somewhere around there) will be here before we know it. Right now, I just keep looking at my belly thinking, "Is it really growing or not???" Of course it is, because most of my regular clothes aren't fitting anymore. The most exciting thing--the last two days, I have felt a very tiny little "kick" to let me know that "Noah/Grace" is getting more and more ready to let us know him/her. Chris is so excited to feel him/her. A couple weeks ago he said he had tried to get the baby to move while I was sleeping. He had been pushing and poking on my belly while I slept, unfortunately to no avail. Fortunately, he didn't wake me up in the process.

VBS, baby, WHAT?

Many of you know that last June, during VBS (Vacation Bible School) we were pregnant for the first time ever! =) However, on Tuesday of that week Andrea had a blood test that confirmed our fears, we had miscarried. The baby was six weeks old. We were very excited to be pregnant & had told our parents the week before. But after this news, we sure didn't feel like making any phone calls. So, we mourned over the loss of our little one during the whole week of VBS. VBS is a very tiring week, but Andrea led worship just the same as she had on Monday, with every bit of joy and energy that you would expect her to. When Friday got here we were so happy to see all of the KIDS and parents come into the gym for the closing program. Some 500-650 people packed the gym to watch their little kids sing some silly songs on stage. For Andrea and I this wasn't as bitter sweet as you might think. If anything, it cemented our decision to begin a family. So, while the sadness of losing a child settled in, we were also overcome with the love of our church family and the certainty with which we had decided to begin our family.

So, what does VBS have to do with 3 Tanners? Well, the very fact that it's coming around again this year is just really exciting, because we got a BUN IN THE OVEN!

Of course we look forward to all the KIDS who will learn about Christ this week, but we also look forward to putting the week we dreaded so much last year behind us this year, and coming out on the other side with a PREGNANT MOMMY! =)

Someday we hope to get 3D pictures of our baby :) Hopefully it doesn't have to be labeled like this one... if you have to label it... hmm... anyway, this one is 28 weeks old :)

The Big Question!

When is the baby due! Man, I sure can't believe I forgot this one! :)

Our Baby is due September 26th. YAY!

Gender Day - May 17th

For now, all we know is that it's a baby. Andrea's still convinced that it's just one baby...I'm still pretty sure that it's twins and that one of them is hiding right behind the other...and it's heart is beating @ the same exact time and it moves @ the same exact time too :) So, basically it's like the best top secret agent that the world has ever seen =)

So, lots of people ask us, "which do you want it to be?" To which we always answer, "Healthy!"

Others ask, "What do you think it is?" Honestly, we really don't know...not even the foggiest idea.

Yeah, so, anyway, we thought of some more songs to sing with baby when he/she gets here:
  • B-I-B-L-E
  • The whole world in His hands
  • Jesus Loves Me
  • Zaccheaus Was a WEEEE Little Man
  • Twinkle Twinkle
  • ABC's of course :)

hmmmm...what else...any ideas?

So - the baby can learn from our face 2 face singing / talking / facial expressions - what songs should we sing 2 baby?

Swaddling

U have 2 wrap the baby! :)

Baby bath time!

We're having tons of fun in baby bath class! :) Andrea is actually rocking the baby :) I swear its automatic! :) okay - its naked baby time!

Baby class 4/27

Grandma Vera (wonder what Noah-Grace is going 2 call her) attended the class on baby bathing & signing. I even won a Baby Signs (check out the site, more info here)DVD by volunteering 2 guess some signs! :) whee!

@ 16 wks baby is tasting whatever Mommy is eating! Wow! Mom really is feeding baby! :)

So @ 24 wks in the oven, apparently we can start singing & playing music 4 our baby! Our teacher even said that classical music is "preffered" by baby's enutero...how do they know that? :)

Baby will taste, hear & feel everything normally @ birth

Here are some fun numbers to think about :)
  • about 3/4 of their day is spent sleeping early on.
  • 2wks, about, baby will coo & make cute noises
  • 2 months smiles come on purpose - b4 that they're inadvertent smiles - boy is that ever going 2 make pictures fun! :)
  • 3 hours / day baby will typically cry - sometimes for no reason @ all...not even poopy diapers!

Link to more Pix

Many pics can be found @ our online printer of choice. We use shutterfly when we're going to get a lot of prints and when they offer tons of coupons. However, due to the recent drought of coupons for FREE prints from shutterfly, we're just usin' good ol' wal-mart. :)

Anyway, check some of the pics out here: http://ctanner.shutterfly.com/

Feel free to add any that you have & comment on the ones there if you like!

Oh, hey, and check back here for coupons for more free prints from there too! I'll be sure to post them as I come across them!

Feb 22nd, 9 week ultrasound pic

From the first email I sent out about our baby!
"Today when we had the ultrasound we saw all the little nubs and the baby even did a tiny little dance for us - as much of a dance as a baby can do w/ an umbilical cord anyway :) The baby even waived when we were finishing up! wow...amazing. I can now understand how parents can actually understand what a 2 yr old is saying and how they can "make out" the face, eyes, and all that stuff! wow!"

Empathy Jacket

WOW was that thing heavy! Equipped with microwaved water-filled and bladderSMASHER inserts, this thing was literally 45lbs of "baby" hanging of the front of me! WOW did I EVER have some empathy for every pregnant woman when I wore this thing around the room for 3 minutes! :) I tried "running" to grab the phone. (4 rings will NEVER cut it @ 9 months) I tried getting into and out of "bed." (read: the floor) I also tried sitting down and standing up, and yes, my legs fell asleep! Anyway, check out my beautiful profile shot here...sooner or later, I'm thinking she's supposed to be a little bigger :) -17 weeks! No Kicking yet!
