Andrea & I got to go to a UK - UAB game today @ Freedom Hall here in the Lou. We had amazing seats, literally 8 rows from the FLOOR! We were behind the Cats goal for the 1st half, but had a fantastic view of the entire game! It was a great game, even though the cats lots :( Bleh. They were ahead by more than 10 points a couple of times, which was GREAT, but they allowed UAB to come back and pull ahead right @ the end. oh well. It was an awesom experience to see them play live and to be in there with soooooooooooo many UK Fans. We're really going to have to go to Rupp pretty soon. This just might be the season to do that too. They're not exactly winning a lot. :( Anyway, we loved it, and can't wait to see another one someday!

ShopFreePay.com (which is now closed to new business) finally shipped my iMac. I began doing offers back on 8/23/07. I "completed" my offers on 10/17 this year. I probably lost track of all of the emails I had to send, though I did keep track of the first 10 or so. I guess the next 5 are in my sent emails, but man, it seems as though it took forever!

anyway, It's finally on its way now! YAY!

I'll never forget the feelings. So many, and so crazy.
1. I've never even heard my GRANDPARENTS say that they remembered foreigners attacking US Soil.
2. I was one month and 6 day married.
3. I was certain that I was going to war.
4. SO certain, that I began considering how I would join, which branch I would join, and how soon we could get pregnant so that there could be SOME sort of family started, if the worst happened.
5. I wonder how so many others like me felt years before when we joined wars that we were not "part of."
6. Though I knew what I THOUGHT he should do, and what he PROBABLY would do, I honestly wondered what President G.W. Bush would do.
7. I thanked God repeatedly all day long that Al (thank you for the internet al) was NOT the "leader."
8. I thanked God all day that none of my family or friends were in or around there.
9. Andrea, who usually worked her BRAINS out of her everliving head during school, actually laid on the couch (somehow we managed, I don't know, don't even ask) with me that night and watched all the coverage and enjoyed being together for fear that we soon wouldn't.

I'm still so thankful and grateful. It's so hard to imagine, guys who were younger than me, like in JR HIGH while I was graduating High School, went over there to give those punks what they deserved. Guys who were the little brother of friends of mine who we actually picked on and made fun of, they went and blew up cities and terrorists (and some not, I know, save it for Rush) and all sorts of other "targets." They went over there fresh out of High School. And I can't say I didn't understand, b/c maybe the scariest thing I felt on that day was #10. In two ways.

Like I said @ theLoft the other night, there is this scale that Andrea and I use to communicate levels of interest, or intensity, or to somehow say "it's THIS important to me." Dave Ramsey just calls it "the scale of 10." and when andrea says something is a 10, I'm all ears, drop everything, this is so important that nothing, not a job, not a friend, not family, NOTHING else matters as much as a 10. Truthfully, everything 7 and up is like this for my spouse. But you get the idea, it helps us to communicate to one another how very important or unimportant something is to each other. So, this day, in 2001, was a 10 / 10 for me. I thought that it was going to change the course of my life forever, maybe even irrevocably.

That was scary enough, but the other 10 was the feeling of revenge or justice I might even call it that seemed to pulse through me w/ every beat of my heart. It was like the more I watched/listened to the news (I still had work installing cable modems for charter) the more I wanted to be part of the solution. Or, the more I wanted to be over there blowing stuff up. I wanted to be a part of it. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to sign up for something that I thought @ the time, could mean death. Crazy...probably...but isn't that what discipleship is supposed to be like?

anyway, more cutesy videos of my favorite boy who came @ the perfect time, thanks to our faithful US Military. Ask me every SINGLE time I pay taxes. property, state, fed, sales, whatever. I know it doesn't all go to the US Armed Forces, but you can bet I'm sure glad that whatever does go there WENT THERE! =)

Andrea informs me that "the scale of 10" is called the Likert scale (and apparently it's "LICK-ert")

Pretty cool quote:

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all - Dale Carnegie

heard that on The Dave Ramsey show "today." I don't usually put a bunch of stock in quotes and stuff like that, but this one, I rather identified with and found it encouraging. Of course, I'd almost have to say that if he didn't have helpful people around him, surely Carnegie didn't accomplish much. I wonder if he later amended this thought with something like "boy, I really need help to really get anything done."

On that note, I applied for "Price protection" or "Return Guarantee" not sure which way it's going to fall yet. But, rest assured, apple is going to get their phone back. I'm going to get my $$ back. Then, I'm going to buy the SAME phone, for their newer, cheaper price. Thanks apple. I'm also considering buying it on ebay from some poor guy w/ buyer's remorse. =)

So, Dave, I reckon paying cash would have worked well for staying out of debt, but what kind of extortion protection, I mean price protection does the cash offer again? Does this still mean Credit Cards are all bad?

It was UK Day today for Noah and me. Noah invited me into his room (crawled out, smiled @ me when I came into the living room, and crawled right back into his room) to play some "toys." Now, relatives and friends, Noah's idea of "toys" is still either tearing up a magazine or playing w/ an empty box. Don't forget to check out the updated 11 Month folder.

11 Months! Well, I suppose it's time for our monthly post here! Mr Noah is quite the busy boy as you might infer from these shots below. He pulls up, crawls like NO body's business, talks a LOT and STILL has VERY few words to actually say. He likes formula now and he likes to feed himself small chunks of whatever he finds or whatever we'll give him. He even notices when we're eating and grunts and waves as if "DUH GUYS - You're eating RIGHT in FRONT of me!" So, life is amazing w/ this little guy...STILL :) OH, and he's still Mr. two tooth, although both grandmothers and mommy swear that there is one coming in somewhere else. Mr Noah sure hasn't acted like it though!

always busy "helping" around the house now ;)

In spite of the half smile you're getting here, Noah LOVES BATH TIME!

He also loves ESCAPING after Bath time ;)

And, after we catch him, he goes back to VISIT the bath he loves so much!
Caught! & proud of it!

Well, we're back from CIY Summer Conference in Carbondale, IL @ SIU. It was fantastic as usual! The students and sr high staff will miss the atmosphere of worship, teaching, fellowship, and in general a GREAT time - but we're all glad to be home too! Last year, we were greeted every morning by the wonderfully creative videos from ILoveEgg.com. I don't know how this happens, partially just the magic of CIY probably, or maybe some youth ministers, students, or volunteers have got way too much time on their hands, I don't know - but check out what we were greeted with each morning this year! ;) Lyrics here.

Can you even imagine something more random? Can you even dream it? Do you even have to ask yourself if I've got that as my ring tone now? :)

2007 Gatlinburg

Pix from our Gatlinburg trip! What a great week of rest AND recreation. Mr Noah had SO MUCH fun in the pool, I SWEAR he's going to be an Olympic swimmer!
9 Months! The big 9 month old boy made it through the week of VBS, though not w/o sickness. He was diagnosed w/ the Coxsackie virus and we had to find help keeping him 1/2 through the week of VBS! That's what Grandma's are for! Grandma Vera came to take care of him on Thursday and Grandma Ann on Friday/Saturday. So, the boy got better!
AAAAAAAND, Mommy got sick. 101 on Friday along w/ the good ol' prayers to the porcelain god's - bleh! But, she was better by noon Saturday! So, then it was Daddy's turn Sunday - and Monday - Vacation! =) Gatlinburg was a blast - more pix from that to come.

Here's the progression of the shots Mommy got of Noah. You'll notice his mobility has increased MANY times over the 7 month pictures when he mostly just flapped his arms and threw his head back ;) He's NOT crawling yet, but he rolls pretty frequently and almost purposefully at times. I can't wait to get home to play again! =)

8 Months old today! YAY Noah! =)

A Little Bit of Easter @ Our House

Going to the last Basketball Sports Shorts of the season. Sportin' the ears that mommy got last week ;) This has got blackmail written all over it! And to think, we innocently shot this thinking, "look, that's cute." And someday....oh boy ;)

So, Noah got an egg w/ some change in it for Easter from Grandma/Grandpa Tanner. He LOVED the noise it made, and was even strong enough to hold it, and of course, his favorite thing to do w/ it..

eat it! ;) of course! =)

The REAL Easter Pic - and an unhappy boy. (He didn't enjoy the first minute after you put the hat on him) But BOY was he cute.

so, we sat him on the floor in the living room and he got all busy showin' that hat who's boss!

So, we finally got a good one of him on Easter - even though it's whitebalancedallcrazylike. oh well.
